It's no secret that newspaper ad revenue and circulation figures have been free-falling in recent years.
The question is, how does a newspaper reduce it's overhead, yet still provide widespread coverage to the communities they serve? The fewer reporters on staff, the less places they can be. It might be helpful for them to have a few extra eyes and ears on the streets when news and events are taking place.
How many people in your community carry camera-equipped cellphones? How many of them can be found at the local events and locations your regional newspaper should be providing coverage of.
